This is watercolor, right? It's amazingly fitting for the style, and you did a fantastic job with the lighting. While I find that show-accurate proportions are difficult to nail down sometimes, what you have here instead works really well. There's a great deal of flow in the lines here, and it generally directs the eye to all parts of it in equal measure, which is a good thing, given the overall quality. Don't know if I'd be able to buy it, but I'd be proud to have it on my wall!

bloominglove responds:

Haha Thank you. Yeah, I did notice the odd proportions when I first started drawing MLP. The Heads are as big as their bodies. lol But, like others, I started to tweak the style into my own. :)

As usual, your art is incredible. Have you ever given thought to some sort of compendium of the lore behind it all? I've seen recurring characters and themes in your pieces. It'd be amazing to get some kind of story or encyclopedia or something about all of it - everything seems so interesting, and makes me want to learn more about it.

Shane-Frost responds:

Thank you most kindly. There is a general connection and story with the characters. Elsewhere there have been short works written of the worlds containing them. In general I tend to disband any true narrative due to most lacking curiosity. Aka the " Too Long Did Not Read " syndrome. No picture is made without purpose however, I would state that much.

It appears a particularly foul type of barnacle has decided to latch on to you in the guise of a user. I recommend ignoring it - hopefully the wretched thing will die of neglect and fall off.

As far as the comic goes, not quite a laugh-out-loud joke, but I still found it amusing. For a second there I thought her heart had exploded or something. I notice that the shading on the characters is kind of inconsistent, in terms of light source. Like in panel 8, Pinkie's shaded like the light is coming from above, but Twilight is shaded like it's coming from the side. Also, I like Twilight's pouty face in the last panel. Really, all of their expressions are pretty good.

Try not to let cruel people get to you. I don't know if you watch Toonami, but take some advice from T.O.M.: Listen to your critics, but ALWAYS ignore the haters.

TheBurningDonut responds:

Yeah Ive seen that guy before, I looked at his gallery and it seems the only way he can get attention is by pissing people off.

I just can't help but feel sorry for the guy!

And I appreciate good constructive criticism, like the kind you give.

He looks a *lot* like Generator Rex.

This is a good thing.

By way of improvement, I'd suggest tightening up some of the lines on the face and clothes, and adding a bit more depth to the clothes. Overall, it's still good.

I love your Journal posts. The recent one, and the previous. You came out with a highly stable statement in the area of deep internet realization. Probably because you've been experiencing, or observing the behavior of people in the internet by making a lot of research and common sense. People might think it is common knowledge and these explanation shouldn't even need to be clarify, but I supposed that I've been loving your writing assets in both humorous and informative essays. Perhaps, one day, I would like to hire you as a writer:)

As painfully adorable as she ever is. Some of the ways you worked in the heart shapes are pretty interesting. I'm wondering why the cloud in the upper left corner either stops at or can't be seen through the wing, but the one in the upper right corner doesn't stop or can be seen.

HassySoda responds:

Can't tell if you're trying to be condescending or you legitimately thought I did it that way on purpose. To answer your question, I fucked up.

You are officially the first user I'm follwing for their art. Something about your lineless style, your lighting, and your surreal characters and subject matter all really grab me. The fact that you made a piece based on that particular song is a bonus. I look forward to whatever you come up with next.

Is there some sort of story or mythology behind your characters, or are they just ones you like to use?

Shane-Frost responds:

I'm quite honored I have to say. Thank you very much! There is something behind each and every work, the charecters and the idea's. It's more so that they will eventually come but remain within the boundries they are given currently. It's based on anyone's curiosity how much any of it is revealed.

Pretty good. Only the MLP, Adventure Time, and Starfox styles are REALLY spot-on, but the others are decent. If I have one beef with this pic, it's that they don't really seem to be racing, aside from Dash, Fox, and the Road Runner - with the rest, it's more like a group photo.

Not related to the overall concept, but I really like your clouds. Kind of MLP, kind of Windwaker.

EnvythisRoadRunner responds:

yea, I really need to step my game up when it comes to different styles. Hehe even at the Rowdy Ruff Boys, you can see a little laziness. Anyways, thanks for the review, i'll definite;y consider it for later group pics

Pretty cool. And, I'm sorry, but I've gotta.

Does he work for Narf Vader?

Kinsei responds:

Haha, I like that pun.

Given that this particular pokemon is specifically male, why not make a suit instead?

mspixelsmith responds:

While it did occur to me to do so, I stand by my statement in the very first submition, that being making a -dress- to represent every pokemon. Naturally that includes exclusively male pokemon such as this half of the nido line.
Make of it what you will
Perhaps in the future I will make suits to complement the male pokemon as well, we'll just have to wait and see.
Thanks for the review :3

Tom Petty, anyone?

Overall I like it, but I think you should do... something to the clouds. I'm not sure why, but they don't really ring true.

Actually, if that's not the case, which it very well may not be, then the issue might be the composition - it's very centered and symmetrical, kind of static. More like the figure is suspended instead of falling.

Drikrystal responds:

I knew I wasn't the only one who thought the clouds looked off. Thought the same about the gesture of the person as well. I think I was going for more a reaching/diving look, but never drew in another person for it to be reaching for.
I'll definitely try something more next time. Thank you. c:
